The Prayer Shawl Weavings meditation series is so named to honor and incorporate the sacred energy that was accrued through joining together in silent meditation during the 40 weeks of Doulas for Peace meditations in 2007. As our service as Doulas concluded, a call to continue to serve as guardians to the peace we had facilitated was felt in many Vessels of Peace hearts.
With the spring equinox, full moon, and Easter energies supporting us, you are invited to join in the emergence of a new circle of service -- a year-long meditation series beginning on Sunday, March 23, 2008. (Note that although the day of the meditations remains Sunday, the same of the Doulas series, the time has been moved up by an hour to 5pm PT/ 6pm MT/ 7pm CT/ 8pm ET for the benefit of our east coast participants.)
It is our intention to be guided by the ways of the first peoples of our sacred home, this planet earth. We begin with the North American continent and its traditions of guidance from Spider Women and of calling in the power of the Four Directions. We start in the east, the place of illumination, spring time and creativity, and as the seasons turn, so will our circle to reflect the energy and teaching of each of the sacred directions.
Spider woman invites you to weave your own journey web. Open yourself to Her inspiration. Draw, write, collage, use found objects - whatever speaks to you. By honoring our own journey we support and honor the emerging consciousness of all humanity. One way to weave your journey web is to draw a web on paper . A 'web map' is a simple, visual way for us to depict the many 'nuggets of wisdom' coming through these calls, whether in meditation or during the sharing of stories and experiences. Each piece of wisdom recorded on our web map or in some other way becomes a precious jewel collected in our personal knowledge web. They are the jewels of our personal and collective talents, gifts, awarenesses, etc., that we have to share with one another. Watching them appear week upon week, is self-affirming, sustaining and supporting. The recording of them also allows us to guard, nurture, and enhance them. Using a creative process can assist us in understanding, and most importantly, grounding Spider Woman's feminine energy, the power of the small, in our lives. To read the story of Spider Woman (also called Grandmother Spider),"
Another way we will "weave the web," is to use our Bulletin Board at LightPages for sharing, questions, prayers, and so on related to the weekly meditations and our subsequent experiences. To sign-in to Vessels of Peace at LightPages click here. Then click on Bulletin Board to read other entries and/or to post your own.
One part of the Vessels of Peace mission states, "Our purpose is service to Divinity, Humanity, Earth." You are invited to gather in this new circle of service, co-creating the web of connection with Gaia. Please join as many of the calls as you are guided. We also encourage you to invite others to join with us as well. These ongoing Sunday evening teleconference meditations provide all of us with a sustained collective practice to deepen our capacity to hold sacred space as our service to "Divinity, Humanity, Earth."
